Description
English: Statue of a saint, placed above the facade of the St. Anthony Cathedral of Breda. In her left hand she holds a cross and in her right hand a ciborium (host chalice). Above the chalice floats a radiant host, a prominent expression of regained Catholic pride. Below the statue is written: "A.D. MDCCCXXXVII", Anno Domini 1837 = The year the cathedral was built.[1]
Español: Estatua de un santo sobre la fachada de la Catedral de San Antonio de Padua en Breda, Países Bajos. En la mano izquierda sostiene una cruz y en la derecha un copón. Sobre el copón flota una hostia radiante, expresión prominente del orgullo católico recuperado. Debajo de la estatua se lee: «A.D. MDCCCXXXVII», Anno Domini 1837, el año de la construcción de la catedral.[1]
Nederlands: Beeld van een heilige, geplaatst boven de voorgevel van de Sint-Antoniuskathedraal van Breda. In haar linker hand houdt ze een kruis vast en in haar rechter hand een ciborie (hostiekelk). Boven de kelk zweeft een stralende hostie, een prominente uiting van de herwonnen katholieke trots. Onder het beeld is te lezen: “A.D. MDCCCXXXVII”, Anno Domini 1837 = Het bouwjaar van de kathedraal.[1]
