I had the same problem this year! Which was weird because they turned out perfectly the times I made them before. I recently made them several more times and here’s what I think the problem is: 1) the cookie dough must be very thick, so try adding the butter a little at a time so the dough doesn’t get too thin (and if it does, just add a little more flour to thicken it). 2) Chill the cookies in the fridge. I had good luck with the “drying on the counter for 12 hours) until this year when it was more humid. I’ve had better luck chilling the dough in the fridge until they’re solid and hard enough that I can’t press the dough down with my fingers. The times when I could press down on the dough they didn’t bake properly. I updated the recipe so I hope you give them another try! Good luck!

This has happened two years in a row. When I put it in the oven, it all turns into a huge puddle. Nothing like the picture.
